Palace in Samotwór, Noble palace in Samotwór, Poland

The palace in Samotwór is a three-story brick building with a mansard roof and columned porticos on its facade. Stucco decorations accent the southeastern side of the structure.

Carl Gotthard Langhans, who later designed the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, completed this palatial residence in 1781 for Baron Gottlob von Saurma. The building changed hands several times and underwent renovation in 1919.

The interior contains an oval hall with elaborate stucco decorations and a neoclassical fireplace, reflecting the tastes of the noble families who made this their home. These rooms show how wealthy residents lived and entertained in earlier centuries.

Today the building operates as a hotel and restaurant complex offering meals and lodging on site. Bus line 609 from Świebodzki Station in Wrocław provides access to the location.

Manfred von Richthofen, the World War I flying ace known as the Red Baron, spent regular vacations at this estate when his family owned it. His visits connect the palace to early aviation history.
