Dąb Mieszko, Monumental oak tree in Kończyce Wielkie, Poland

The Mieszko Oak stands 35 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 910 centimeters, making it the largest oak tree in Silesia.

The oak received its first legal protection in 1935, and in 2005 it was named after Mieszko of Cieszyn, a Piast dynasty prince from the 13th century.

Local legends tell of Polish hussars resting under the oak in 1683 when their horses collapsed from exhaustion during their military campaign.

Visitors can find this natural monument 25 meters from the palace park in Kończyce Wielkie, along Dolna Street in Gmina Hażlach.

The tree features a small hollow five meters from its base and a secured chimney-like cavity on its eastern side.
