Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Głubczyce

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church is a Gothic church in Głubczyce featuring three stone portals decorated with plant motifs from the 13th century. Inside, the space has fine stonework, a Latin cross layout, and several chapels that serve both everyday worship and large ceremonies.

The church was built between 1272 and 1279 under the supervision of the Hospitaller order from Grobniki and remained under their control until 1810. From 1535 to 1633, it was managed by Protestants before returning to Catholic use.

The church houses stained glass windows and furnishings made in the early 1900s by the local Ondruszów carpentry workshop. These pieces shape the interior today and show the craft traditions of the area.

The building has multiple entrances making it easy to explore, and the layout accommodates different types of visits. Visitors should allow time to see the various chapels and sections, as the Latin cross design creates many areas to discover.

The church is crowned by two distinctive towers whose lower sections are square and taper to octagonal upper segments. This unusual profile topped with cupolas and ornamental lanterns makes the building instantly recognizable from the outside.
