Karłowice Castle

Karłowice Castle is a Gothic fortress with a trapezoidal plan and a cylindrical tower standing near the Strobawa river. The grounds contain several preserved outbuildings including a granary, mill, coach house, and administrative residence.

Construction began in the 14th century under the Czambor de Kertzendorf family, then passed to the von Beess family and subsequently the Piast dynasty. Each successive owner left their mark on the fortress's form and purpose.

The chapel within the complex dates from the Baroque period and now serves as an Evangelical church, showing how religious spaces adapted to changing community needs. Visitors can observe how faith and local identity remain woven into the castle's spaces.

The cylindrical tower has unusually thick walls at its base, reflecting its importance as a defensive strongpoint. This solid construction reveals how seriously medieval builders took the fortress's protective role.
