The Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel and Blessed Bronisław Markiewicz in Miejsce Piastowe is a three-nave church with two towers on its facade and Slavic architectural elements throughout. Inside, the main altar holds a statue of Our Lady Queen of Poland, and a sarcophagus containing reliquaries stands on the right side.
Construction of the church began in 1931 under architect Jan Sas-Zubrzycki and was completed in 1935. The site itself had been linked to Father Markiewicz since the late 19th century, when he founded his community for disadvantaged young people here.
The sanctuary is named after Blessed Bronisław Markiewicz, a priest who devoted his life to protecting poor children and whose beatification is closely tied to this place. Pilgrims come here to pray at his sarcophagus and venerate the relics kept inside the church.
The church is open for regular services and monthly Marian devotions held in the dedicated chapel. As in any Catholic place of worship, visitors are expected to dress modestly and keep voices low inside the building.
Carved into the church facade is a prophecy attributed to Father Markiewicz, stating that Poland would give the world a great pope. These words were set in stone before Karol Wojtyla was elected pope in 1978, which many visitors find striking when they notice the inscription.
