Muzeum Zamoyskich w Kozłówce

Muzeum Zamoyskich w Kozłówce

Muzeum Zamoyskich w Kozłówce is a Baroque palace serving as a museum with an extensive collection displayed throughout its rooms. The walls hold around 460 preserved paintings, accompanied by authentic furnishings and decorative elements from the late 19th century.

The palace was built between 1736 and 1742 according to a design by Jozef Fontana and represents a peak of regional Baroque architecture. The Zamoyski family acquired the estate in 1799 and maintained it as their residence until 1944, when it passed to state ownership.

The museum houses a Gallery of Socialist Realism in a former coach house, displaying artworks and monuments created by Polish artists during the 1950s. Visitors can see how these works reflected the artistic direction of that era.

The museum operates on weekday and weekend schedules, so visitors should check opening hours before planning a visit. Exploring the collection requires no special preparation and the rooms are straightforward to navigate.

The palace chapel is a striking reproduction of the Versailles chapel, showing how French architectural traditions influenced this Polish aristocratic residence. Inside, a marble tomb replica commemorates Zofia Czartoryska Zamoyska and reflects the family's connections to European nobility.
