Muzeum – Zamek w Łańcucie

Muzeum – Zamek w Łańcucie is a palace that displays collections of horse-drawn carriages, period furniture, and decorative arts across multiple grand halls and chambers. The complex offers insight into European aristocratic material culture through its varied exhibitions.

The castle began as a defensive tower built in the 16th century by the Pilecki family and was fundamentally reshaped after 1629 under Stanisław Lubomirski's direction. This transformation turned it into a residence reflecting the new taste and power of the nobility.

The museum displays religious artworks positioned within the palace's chapels and halls where they were originally used. Visitors also encounter theater decorations and props from different periods, reflecting the cultural tastes of former residents.

The museum is open during specific time slots that vary by day of the week. Visitors should allow plenty of time to explore the various halls and exhibitions at a comfortable pace.

The castle preserves original 18th-century room decorations that reveal how aristocrats actually lived and arranged their homes. Among the artworks is a rare self-portrait by Renaissance painter Sofonisba Anguissola from 1556.
