Moszna Castle, Medieval castle in Moszna, Poland.
Moszna Castle is a multi-towered residence in the village of Moszna in Upper Silesia, combining Gothic spires with Baroque domes and Renaissance facades. The complex spreads across both wings with more than ninety towers of varying heights and shapes, while the surrounding landscape park with ponds, bridges, and old tree clusters completes the ensemble.
A manor house stood here since the late eighteenth century before the Tiele-Winckler family began extensive enlargements from the late nineteenth century onwards. The works continued until World War I, transforming the modest building into an extensive palace complex.
The name Moszna comes from a Slavic word meaning swampy land, reflecting the original landscape around the estate. Today part of the rooms serve as a sanatorium for neurological rehabilitation, where patients walk through the historic corridors and stroll in the extensive park.
Guided tours through the interior rooms show the main halls and explain the architectural details, while the park is freely accessible and suitable for walking. The best time to visit is spring or autumn, when the foliage frames the towers and the paths are comfortable to walk.
The total number of rooms and towers corresponds to the days and hours of a year, with this design intentionally planned. Some of the smaller towers serve only as decorative elements without interior spaces or stairs.
