Cathedral of the Holy Cross, Opole

The Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Opole is a Gothic church with two tall towers rising above the roofline. The interior is divided into three sections by stone columns, and the outer walls are reinforced by numerous buttresses that support the heavy masonry.

The structure was built in the 15th century, though its foundations date back to the 11th century. It has been damaged by fire multiple times and reconstructed, which connects it deeply to the city's past.

Inside, the chapel holds the tomb of a former local ruler and displays an old painting of the Virgin Mary. These religious artworks show how important this place has been to the community across generations.

A medieval stone baptismal basin decorated with intricate carved patterns and the city coat of arms is preserved inside. This artwork was only discovered in the middle of the 20th century near the vicarage, revealing hidden treasures that lay forgotten at this location.
