Polana Izerska

Polana Izerska is a mountain glade situated at approximately 965 meters elevation with marshy ground and multiple marked hiking paths. The site functions as a water source region for rivers and provides a forest barn and rain shelter for hikers passing through the area.

During the 1800s, a tavern at the location became popular with visitors from the nearby spa resort, drawing people to the high-altitude area. This growing appeal led to the creation of New Izerska Road to improve access to the glade.

The settlement served as a working center for forest industries, with the surrounding woodlands supporting the livelihoods of local residents for generations. Visitors can still observe traces of this woodland heritage through the forest barn that stands as a reminder of human activity in this mountain setting.

The glade is reachable via several marked hiking trails, including the Main Sudeten Trail connecting to nearby settlements. Visitors should prepare for marshy ground conditions and can use the rain shelter and forest barn as waypoints for navigation.

The location sits on the main continental divide separating drainage toward the Baltic Sea from that toward the North Sea. This geographical positioning makes it a remarkable point where water flows in opposite directions across Europe.
