The synagogue features four domes, brick construction, and architectural elements combining Moorish Revival style with neoclassical interior details at Horea Street.
The Jewish congregation established this religious center in 1849, with the current building constructed between 1886 and 1887 by architect Izidor Hegner.
The synagogue serves as both an active religious center for the Jewish community and a memorial dedicated to Holocaust victims from Cluj-Napoca.
Religious education programs take place throughout the academic year, offering Jewish students opportunities to learn within the synagogue premises.
This synagogue remains the only functioning Jewish temple among five previous synagogues that existed in Cluj-Napoca before World War II.
