The monastery stands on the right bank of the South Morava River, between the cities of Ražanj and Kruševac in eastern Serbia.

The first written record of the monastery dates back to 1011 in documents from Emperor Basil II, marking its long presence in Serbian history.

The monastery holds the tomb and relics of Roman Sinait, a revered monk who became a saint in Serbian Orthodox traditions.

The monastery remains open for religious services and welcomes visitors who wish to explore its architectural features and religious significance.

During periods of conflict, the monastery transformed into a hospital while maintaining its religious functions for the local community.
