Рублёвский гидроузел, Hydroelectric complex in Moscow, Russia
Rublyovsky Hydroelectric Complex is a dam across the Moscow River with a spillway and power station containing three generators. The installation manages river water levels and serves the city's water supply system through its strategic position.
The complex was completed in 1934 to stabilize water levels for Moscow's supply needs. It preceded the Moscow-Volga Canal and demonstrated innovative Soviet engineering of that era.
The facility represents Soviet industrial engineering achievements of the 1930s, with its architectural elements reflecting the constructivist style of that period.
The site can be viewed from the adjacent embankment on foot, with the best viewing point from a nearby bridge. Visit during daylight hours to properly see the structure and river.
The facility uses roller gates with innovative hydraulic systems that were considered a technical advance when built. These specialized gates allow more precise control of water flow than earlier designs.
