Chertovy Vorota Cave

The limestone cave rises 35 meters above Krivaya River and contains a main chamber measuring 45 meters in length with several smaller galleries.

Archaeological excavations that began in 1973 revealed over 600 artifacts, 700 pottery fragments, and more than 700 animal bones from ancient settlements.

The remains of seven individuals found in the cave provided the first genetic identification of the Ancient Northeast Asian population connections.

The protected federal heritage site requires visitors to follow specific preservation guidelines and obtain necessary permits for access to the archaeological areas.

The cave contained carbonized textile fragments dated to 9400-8400 BP, representing the earliest evidence of textiles discovered in East Asia.
