Gilevo grove, Natural monument grove in Tyumen, Russia
The Gilevo grove is a protected forest of pine and birch trees covering 89 hectares on the high bank of Lake Krivoye. It includes walking paths, gazebos, and designated areas where visitors can enjoy outdoor recreation throughout the year.
The grove received official protection as a natural monument in 1968, marking its recognition as an important natural site. The first paths and structures for visitors were built starting in 1984, transforming it into an accessible public space.
The grove serves as a gathering place where city residents spend their leisure time walking, jogging, or skiing depending on the season. The illuminated trails make it possible to enjoy the forest even during dark winter evenings.
The forest is accessible year-round and offers visitors the option to rent equipment such as bicycles, rollerblades, and skis at different rates for adults and children. Illuminated trails allow for outdoor activities even during the dark winter months.
Archaeological excavations within the forest uncovered traces of Bronze Age settlements, now marked by a memorial plaque within the park. This ancient history shows that people have valued and used this location for thousands of years.
