Памятник штурмовику Ил-2

The monument features a full-scale model of the Il-2 attack aircraft mounted on a concrete stele that simulates the trajectory of flight.

The monument was inaugurated on May 9, 1965, marking the liberation of Istra from German forces during the Battle of Moscow in 1941.

The memorial includes commemorative plaques with maps depicting Soviet counterattacks and texts describing the battles of November 1941 near Istra.

Visitors can reach the monument by taking an electric train from Moscow's Rizhsky station to Istra, followed by a 2.5-kilometer walk to the city park.

The original aircraft model was replaced with a more durable titanium version, making this monument the first of many Il-2 memorials across the Soviet Union.
