Lenin House on Turgeneva Street, 8 in Vyborg

Finnish architect Otto Väinö Vartiovaara designed this residential building in 1909 as part of Vyborg's urban development during the early 1900s. The structure gained its present name after Vladimir Lenin passed through the city in autumn 1917.

The building is called Lenin House because of a historic visit, though locals still refer to it as the House with Owls for its distinctive decorative features on the facade. These ornaments show how northern European design became part of everyday life in this place and shaped local memory.
