Белая Колпь

Belaya Kolp is an estate complex in Shakhovskoy District with partially preserved buildings including a manager's house, stables, and carriage house. The property is surrounded by a park containing linden trees from the 18th century that give the grounds their character.

The estate came into the Shakhovsky family's ownership in 1658 and remained theirs until 1917. Prince A. A. Shakhovsky shaped the main complex during the 18th century, establishing the architectural style and layout of that period.

The Andreevskaya Church on the grounds was built in 1807 and displays classical Russian architecture with an Empire-style bell tower. The space reflects the artistic ideals that wealthy families valued during that era.

The property is located in a rural area, so it helps to arrive with enough time to explore all areas without rushing. Many original artworks from the estate are now housed in Moscow museums including the State Historical Museum and the State Tretyakov Gallery.

During the second half of the 19th century, the property operated a cheese factory that supported the local economy. This industrial use shows how agricultural goods were connected to modern production methods of that time.
