The hydroelectric power station stands on the banks of the Lama River, featuring remnants of its original power generation infrastructure and turbine mechanisms.
The power station, initiated by local residents in 1918, became Russia's first rural hydroelectric dam and supplied electricity to 22 villages until its destruction in 1941.
During its construction phase in 1920, Vladimir Lenin visited the site and promised to provide equipment to support this grassroots electrification project.
Located behind the Chernyshev Estate at Pushkin Street building 45, the decommissioned power station remains accessible for visitors interested in industrial heritage.
The power plant originated from a community initiative to power four lamps for a local play, leading to the establishment of a cooperative for village electrification.
