Ивановское-Безобразово, Federal cultural heritage estate in Ivanovskoye, Russia.
Ивановское-Безобразово is an estate with a two-story main house featuring vaulted cellars, two side wings, and a double-tower church in a classical and Gothic style. The buildings form a unified complex positioned on the northern edge of Volokolamsk.
The classical ensemble with Gothic decorative elements was built by M.O. Bezobrazov between 1770 and 1780, with significant reworking in the early 1800s. This reconstruction gave the complex its current appearance and architectural balance.
This estate belonged to the Bezobrazov family and shows how Russian nobility lived on their country properties. Walking through the grounds today reveals how such families organized their daily life around the main residence, service buildings, and their private church.
The estate sits on the northern side of Volokolamsk and can be reached from Lenin Street by turning at the Textile Factory sign or heading uphill on Chuchkov Street. Its elevated position makes it visible from the town and straightforward to locate.
The main house started as a single-story Baroque structure and gained an upper floor during the early 1800s reworking, fundamentally changing its architectural character. This addition remains visible in its construction details and decorative finishes.
