Alexander Nevsky monument in Samolva

The Alexander Nevsky monument in Samolva is a bronze complex near Chudskoe Lake depicting the prince and nine warriors in various poses. Three warriors are mounted on horses while six stand on foot, all positioned together on a raised mound overlooking the water.

The monument marks the Battle on the Ice in 1242, when Russian forces under Alexander Nevsky defeated the Teutonic Knights on Lake Peipus. This medieval victory became a defining moment in the region's history and Russian military tradition.

The bronze figures carry banners with religious symbols, and the main flag displays the image of Christ Not Made by Human Hands. These elements blend the military representation with spiritual meaning that visitors can observe directly.

The monument stands on the shore of Lake Peipus in Gdovsky district and is easy to reach from the main area. The open location offers clear views of the water and remains accessible throughout the year.
