Мост через Волгу

The M12 bridge crosses the Volga River with a total length of 3362 meters, linking both banks of Tatarstan with modern concrete and steel construction. The structure features multiple lanes for two-way traffic and is designed as part of an international transport route.

The project developed as part of a European-Chinese transport corridor initiative to improve connectivity between Moscow and Kazan. Construction was planned for completion in November 2024, marking a significant phase in regional infrastructure development.

The bridge joins communities on opposite sides of the Volga, where Russian and Tatar speakers go about their daily lives and maintain distinct local traditions. This crossing has become a shared pathway used by families, workers, and merchants moving between regions.

The roadway allows safe passage for cars, trucks, and buses with a speed limit of 120 kilometers per hour. The crossing is passable year-round and significantly reduces travel time between the two major cities in the region.

The structure was engineered with modern elements to support future autonomous vehicles, preparing the infrastructure for coming decades of transportation technology. This forward-looking design allows the crossing to adapt to new vehicle systems without requiring major rebuilding.
