The memorial «Soldier of Victory» (Byutyay-Yurdya) is a war memorial in the village of Byutyay-Yurdya, in Namsky District, Yakutia, Russia. It consists of a concrete statue of a soldier on a two-step base, flanked by two irregularly shaped steles bearing metal plaques engraved with the names of those who served.
The memorial was built in 1970 to honor the residents of Betyunsky Nasleg who fought in World War II. Of the roughly 89 men called up, many did not return home.
Every year on May 9, villagers gather at the memorial to mark Victory Day. Speeches are given, flowers are laid, and the names of the fallen are read aloud.
The memorial stands next to the village administration building and is easy to reach on foot from the center of Byutyay-Yurdya. The surrounding area is open at all times and free to visit.
One of the steles carries a commemorative inscription in the Yakut language: «Eternal glory to the fellow countrymen who fell on the fronts of the war». The monument also bears a relief of the Order of the Patriotic War, a Soviet decoration for wartime service.
