Borås rådhus

Borås Town Hall sits at the central square and displays National Romantic architecture in its design. The structure was built with Helsingborg bricks and features a prominent tower, ornate stone surfaces, and detailed sculptural embellishments throughout.

Architects Ivar Tengbom and Ernst Torulf designed the building, which opened in 1910 as an administrative center. After decades of housing city functions, the municipal administration moved to new facilities in 1957, though the building remained in public use.

The building embodies civic pride through its clock tower and carefully crafted stone details that reflect the town's values. The facade elements tell a story of local craftsmanship and community identity.

The building currently functions as the district court, with the municipal offices located elsewhere in the city. Its central location makes it easy to visit and explore while walking through the downtown area.

A carillon was added through donation in 1944 and plays from the tower to mark time. The musical bells create a distinctive sonic experience that connects the building to daily life in the town.
