Höga stigen större 17, Residential building in Södermalm, Sweden
Höga stigen större 17 is a residential building in Södermalm located at Fiskargatan 9 that rises five stories with a height of about 22 meters and displays Art Nouveau design elements throughout. The building contains 14 apartments ranging from about 61 to 336 square meters in size.
The building was constructed between 1907 and 1908 by architect Knut Petersson as one of the first structures to follow the 1890 urban plan for the area. Its creation sparked local discussions about the new building style it brought to the neighborhood.
The building attracted artists like painter Per Collijn who arrived in 1909 and artist Einar Jolin who ran a studio there during the 1910s. These residences became gathering places for the creative community of the time.
The building is managed by a condominium association established in 1989, indicating a long period under local oversight. Since this is an active residential building, visitors should understand that interiors are typically not publicly accessible.
The penthouse apartment was converted in 1985 and spans approximately 652 square meters across 20 rooms, making it the largest apartment in any Swedish multi-dwelling building. This remarkable size was achieved by combining several original units under a single roof.
