Arkitekturskolan, KTH, University building at Royal Institute of Technology campus, Stockholm, Sweden
Arkitekturskolan is a six-story university building on KTH's campus featuring a distinctive deep red steel exterior and curved glass surfaces. The triangular courtyard design creates open connections between levels and spaces for students and faculty to interact and move through the facility.
The building was completed in 2015 by architects Tham & Videgård and won the Kasper Salin Prize that same year for design excellence. Its modern form marks a distinct shift from the early twentieth-century brick structures that surround it on campus.
The structure integrates with Erik Lallerstedt's early twentieth-century brick buildings through its deep rust red steel exterior and circular design concept.
The building accommodates about 550 students with flexible room layouts spread across multiple levels. Workshops, lecture halls, and research spaces are arranged to keep distances short and encourage natural interaction between users.
Three large windows at the top floor frame views of Stockholm's cityscape, while two roof terraces provide outdoor areas where students can take breaks and meet informally.
