Divín

Divín is a castle ruin perched on a rocky hilltop with steep slopes in Slovakia, displaying remains from different building phases. The surviving structures include walls and defensive elements that reflect medieval military needs and construction methods.

The castle was founded around 1200 by the Lossonczy family to secure control over the surrounding area. It experienced several conflicts throughout its existence before eventually being destroyed.

The ruins display features of medieval defensive architecture visible in the remaining stone walls and structures today. They tell the story of how such fortifications protected the region and controlled the surrounding lands.

Visitors can reach the ruins by following marked hiking paths from the village of Divín. The site sits on hilly terrain, so sturdy footwear and some stamina are needed for the climb.

The site shows traces of different construction techniques, revealing how the fortress was modified and reinforced over centuries. Each layer tells of new defensive needs in different time periods.
