Chao Phraya Sky Park, Elevated park in Bangkok, Thailand
Chao Phraya Sky Park is an elevated park that spans roughly 280 meters above the river with walking paths, planted areas, and viewpoints. Visitors can stroll across and observe the Bangkok skyline while moving between the two riverbanks.
The structure came from an unfinished Lavalin Skytrain project begun in 1979 that sat abandoned for three decades. It was later refurbished and transformed into a public park for everyone to use.
The park serves as a meeting place where residents walk, rest, and watch the river below. It becomes a space where people from both sides of the Chao Phraya naturally interact and spend time together.
The space is accessible via elevators on both sides and opens early in the morning until evening. This makes it easy to visit at different times of day depending on light and personal preference.
The elevated structure was built on an old railway line and stands as one of the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. The abandoned infrastructure piece was cleverly turned into green space.
