Suan Kulab building

The Suan Kulab building combines Victorian architectural style with Oriental design elements visible in both its exterior and interior spaces. The structure blends European and Asian architectural traditions in its overall composition.

The building was constructed in 1912 during King Rama VI's reign and served as the residence of Admiral Prince Asadangdechawut until 1924. Its construction occurred during a period when Thailand was exploring and incorporating European architectural styles.

The interior displays traditional Thai artistic craftsmanship through intricate woodcarvings, stained glass windows, and decorative wall paintings. These details reveal how artistic skills and ornamental design were valued during the building's period of use.

The building underwent extensive restoration work in 1993, with the Fine Arts Department overseeing repairs to the main structure and boundary walls. The restoration preserved the building's substance for visitors who wish to explore its exterior and interior spaces.
