Mikron Bridge, Ottoman stone bridge in Fırtına Valley, Turkey.
The Mikron Bridge is a stone arch bridge in Fırtına Valley that rises about 12 meters above a mountain stream and spans roughly 30 meters. It is built from cut and rubble stone fitted together into a high arching form.
The bridge was built during the Ottoman period in the 19th century as part of a network connecting the mountainous region. It underwent structural repairs by the Highways Department in 1999 to ensure its durability.
The bridge shows traditional stonework by local craftsmen who built connections between mountain communities under Ottoman rule. Visitors can still see the carefully layered stone construction and the characteristic arched design typical of this region.
The bridge connects both sides of the valley and provides access to hiking trails and rural settlements in the surrounding area. The walkway across offers little shade, so visiting in early morning or late afternoon is more comfortable.
This bridge belongs to a group of over 20 Ottoman-era stone bridges in Fırtına Valley, each with elevated arches. These characteristic arched forms were specifically designed to withstand the valley's frequent flooding.
