Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Military memorial in Arlington National Cemetery, US
The marble sarcophagus features panels representing Peace, Valor, and Victory, with inverted wreaths marking major World War I military campaigns.
The memorial was dedicated on November 11, 1921, following the selection of one unidentified soldier among four remains exhumed from French battlefields.
The inscription 'Here Rests in Honored Glory an American Soldier Known but to God' commemorates all unidentified service members who died in combat.
Visitors can observe the Changing of the Guard ceremony performed by the 3d Infantry Regiment every hour from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.
The Vietnam War crypt remains empty since 1998 when DNA testing identified the remains as Air Force Lieutenant Michael Joseph Blassie.
