Edwin H. Cheney House

The Edwin H. Cheney House is a Prairie School residence built in 1903 in Oak Park. It features a hipped roof with wide overhanging eaves that shelter the windows, an open floor plan combining dining, living, and library spaces, and fir wood accents throughout the interior.

Frank Lloyd Wright designed this home in 1903 for electrical engineer Edwin Cheney. The property was later recognized as a contributing element to the Prairie School of Architecture Historic District.

The home displays Prairie School design through its horizontal lines and open layout that blends with its surroundings. Inside, wooden posts and cabinetry create flowing connections between different areas while maintaining visual continuity.
