Krug Park, Public park in St. Joseph, Missouri
Krug Park is a large green space at the northern end of St. Joseph Parkway featuring Italian Renaissance buildings, a fishing lagoon, and garden areas. The grounds include walking trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas designed for visitors of different abilities.
Henry Krug donated the initial land to the city in 1890 with specific conditions prohibiting gambling and alcohol on the grounds. The original gift expanded over time into the large park that exists today.
The natural amphitheater serves as a gathering place where the community comes together for performances and events. It shapes how visitors and locals experience the park throughout the seasons.
The park has three shelters available for group gatherings and multiple picnic areas suited for various group sizes. Visitors will find that trails are well-marked and accessible for both walking and biking.
From Thanksgiving through January 1st, the park becomes a winter light display featuring the largest outdoor light installation in Northwest Missouri. This seasonal transformation draws families and visitors who come specifically to experience the illuminated grounds.
