Old Sturbridge Village, Living history museum in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, United States.
Old Sturbridge Village is a living history museum in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. The site includes 59 historic buildings from the early 1800s, among them homes, workshops, a meetinghouse, and a school.
The museum opened in 1946 and recreates rural New England life between 1790 and 1840. Buildings were moved from other locations across the region and reassembled on this land.
Costumed interpreters demonstrate traditional 19th-century crafts, agricultural methods, and daily activities throughout the reconstructed historical buildings.
The site is open year-round and offers guided walks and seasonal events. Paths connect the buildings, though some areas require walking over uneven ground.
Three working water-powered mills grind grain and saw timber on the grounds. The millpond that drives their wheels was built in the late 1700s and still supplies them today.
