Pennsylvania Governor's Residence, Official residence in Uptown Harrisburg, United States
The Governor's Residence is a Georgian-style mansion situated on the Susquehanna River with a red brick front and seven window sections across its face. A large Palladian window marks the center of the facade.
The current building was completed in 1968 and replaced earlier governmental houses in the area. This move to a new location marked a shift in how the state managed its official seat of power.
The building displays rotating and permanent art collections featuring objects from Pennsylvania's past throughout its rooms. Visitors can see works that reflect the state's history and creative traditions.
The residence opens for tours throughout the year, with special visits available during holiday seasons. It helps to plan ahead since larger groups may arrive at certain times.
The grounds feature working observation beehives established in 2016 that produce honey on-site. This beekeeping project at an official residence reveals an unexpected ecological initiative.
