Please Touch Museum, Children's museum in Centennial District, Philadelphia, United States.
The Please Touch Museum sits inside Memorial Hall and covers around 157,000 square feet with six themed areas that invite children to touch and explore. Each area offers a different world to discover, from a neighborhood with shops to a fairytale workshop.
The museum moved into Memorial Hall in 2008, a building from 1876 constructed for the United States centennial celebration. The hall originally served as an art gallery during the great exhibition and now stands as a protected national landmark.
The museum incorporates daily interactive theater performances at Please Touch Playhouse, where children participate directly in storytelling and dramatic presentations.
The museum opens from 9 AM to 4:30 PM on Mondays through Saturdays except Tuesdays, and from 11 AM on Sundays. Most areas suit children up to about seven years old, with ramps and wide paths for strollers.
A restored carousel from 1908 spins in a glass pavilion of around 9,000 square feet (840 square meters) inside the museum. The carousel comes from an old amusement park in Philadelphia and features hand-carved figures.
