Randhurst Ice Arena, Indoor ice rink in Mount Prospect, United States
Randhurst Ice Arena was an indoor ice facility in Mount Prospect with two full-size skating rinks and seating capacity for about 2000 spectators. The spacious building contained everything needed for hockey competitions and figure skating events.
The arena opened to support local ice hockey leagues and figure skating programs in the region. A notable moment came in 1974 when the Chicago Cougars professional team played home games there after another venue became unavailable.
The facility served as a gathering place for ice hockey teams and figure skaters throughout the region. Local athletes and families regularly used the rinks for training and competitive events.
The facility sat right next to Randhurst Mall, making it convenient for visitors traveling from the Chicago metropolitan area. Parking and nearby shops made a visit straightforward.
After its years as an ice arena, the building was transformed into a toy store called Child World. The site later changed hands again and became a large home improvement store.
