Cabot Center, University sports complex in Boston, Massachusetts.
Cabot Center is a sports complex at Northeastern University housing multiple athletic facilities under one roof. The building contains Solomon Court, an arena seating around 1800 people, along with an indoor swimming pool, indoor track, and various training spaces for different sports.
The complex was built in 1954 and named in 1957 after Godfrey Lowell Cabot, a prominent businessman and philanthropist. The location sits on the grounds of the former Huntington Avenue Grounds, the site of baseball's first World Series in 1903.
Solomon Court within the facility serves as the main gathering place for the university's women's basketball and volleyball competitions, where students and fans come together during the academic season. The venue shapes the rhythm of campus sports life and holds meaning for the community beyond just athletics.
The swimming facility inside features a 25-meter pool with six lanes and seating for around 500 spectators during competitions. The venue is most easily visited during scheduled athletic events when the complex is open and accessible to the public.
The indoor track underwent a major renovation in 2008 with the installation of specialized granule surfaces that reduce impact on joints. The track design includes four-lane straightaways and two-lane curves, created specifically to support competitive running while protecting athlete health.
