Sandra D. Thompson Field

Sandra D. Thompson Field is a soccer and lacrosse stadium at Virginia Tech featuring a natural grass playing surface approximately 75 by 120 yards in size. The facility accommodates about 2,000 seated spectators with additional standing room available.

The facility opened in 2003 and received its official naming in 2008 to honor Sandra D. Thompson for her contributions to women's sports programs at the university. This construction fulfilled Virginia Tech's need for a dedicated home venue for its teams.

The field serves as the primary home ground for Virginia Tech's soccer and lacrosse teams, where students and fans gather regularly to watch the Hokies compete.

The field features an underground irrigation and drainage system that allows for quick preparation of the playing surface after rain. Visitors should dress appropriately for outdoor conditions, as most seating is exposed to the elements.

The game operations center includes two broadcast booths with media workspaces connected through ethernet for transmitting live game coverage. This infrastructure allows matches to be recorded and distributed across multiple platforms.
