The Republic Theatre features a rectangular brick structure with a large segmental arch entrance and terra cotta decorations on its limestone-colored stucco foundation.
Built between 1921 and 1922 by Republic Cotton Mills, the theater served as the main entertainment venue for Great Falls until its closure in 1974.
The theater represents early 20th-century cinema architecture and community entertainment spaces, designed by J.E. Serrine & Co with period-specific elements.
Located at 806 Dearborn Street, the building occupies less than one acre of land and received National Register of Historic Places status in November 1980.
The theater's facade includes specific architectural elements such as a molded terra cotta cornice and detailed entrance decorations that distinguish it from other period buildings.
