Swallow Boathouse, Historic boathouse at Lake Winnipesaukee in Moultonborough, United States
The Swallow Boathouse is a structure on Lake Winnipesaukee with a length of roughly 80 feet and width of roughly 37 feet. It rests on eight stone piers that extend down into the lake's water.
The boathouse was constructed between 1908 and 1910 as part of the Kona Farm estate. Herbert Dumaresq commissioned it primarily to house his steam yacht and support his waterfront activities.
The structure displays Tudor Revival design features combined with Shingle style elements, reflecting how waterfront properties were built in the early 1900s. These architectural choices were common for estates around the lake during that era.
The boathouse is not open to the general public and can only be viewed from the water. Visitors who want to see it should plan a boat trip on the lake to get a closer perspective.
The interior has been modified over time, with flooring added to sections that once opened directly to the water. These adaptations reveal how the structure was repurposed to meet modern needs.
