The Archives of Traditional Music maintains a collection of 120,000 recordings, including field collections, manuscripts, and photographs documenting global musical traditions.
Since its establishment, the archive has accumulated recordings dating from the 1890s, preserving various forms of American and international folk music expressions.
The collection includes Native American music, African music, and Latin American music recordings, along with early jazz and blues on 78 RPM discs.
Located on the second floor of Simon Music Library at 200 S. Eagleson Avenue, the facility provides listening rooms and research spaces for visitors.
The archive contains over 3,000 field collections gathered by anthropologists, linguists, and folklorists, with many recordings unavailable in other repositories worldwide.
