Young State Park, State park in Evangeline Township, Michigan, US.
Young State Park is a state park on the shore of Lake Charlevoix in Evangeline Township, Michigan, with forested areas, lowlands, and cedar swamps. The grounds include campgrounds, a boat launch, and swimming areas spread along the waterfront.
The land became a park in 1921 when Adolph and Mary Young donated it to the public. In the following decade, the Civilian Conservation Corps built the trails and facilities that still shape the grounds today.
The park provides space for community gatherings and shows how Michigan residents spend their free time outdoors. People come together here to camp, hike, and spend time with family along the water.
The park is divided into separate campgrounds and swimming areas, so it helps to know which section you are heading to before arriving. Special beach wheelchairs are available on site, making the waterfront accessible to visitors with mobility needs.
The eastern edge of the park connects directly to a bicycle trail that links several communities across northern Michigan. This means visitors can leave the park on two wheels and reach nearby towns without needing a car.
