21c Museum Hotel Louisville, hotel in Louisville, United States
The 21c Museum Hotel Louisville is an accommodation with integrated contemporary art museum housed within five restored 19th-century warehouses. The building contains 91 guest rooms with high ceilings and large windows, 9,000 square feet of gallery space with rotating exhibitions, a restaurant called Proof on Main, and a bar featuring over seventy Kentucky bourbons.
The building originated from the vision of Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson, who in 2006 transformed historic warehouse structures in Louisville's downtown arts district into a hybrid space combining lodging and art. This adaptive reuse project helped revitalize the neighborhood and established the location as a center for contemporary art and hospitality.
The hotel operates as a gathering place where art and everyday life intersect within Louisville's downtown arts district. Visitors can freely explore galleries featuring rotating exhibitions of sculptures, paintings, and videos that encourage people to pause and engage with contemporary work.
The hotel is located on Main Street in downtown Louisville and easily walkable to shops, restaurants, and parks nearby. Galleries are open throughout the day and evening, so plan time to explore rotating art installations at your own pace without rushing.
A massive golden sculpture of Michelangelo's David by artist Serkan Özkaya stands at the main entrance as a striking landmark. The rooftop apartment offers over 2,000 square feet of terrace garden with views of downtown and the Ohio River.
