Hoang Van Thu Bridge

The Hoang Van Thu Bridge spans the Cam River for approximately 1.6 kilometers and carries four motor lanes plus two mixed-use lanes for various vehicles. The structure features a distinctive main arch designed to resemble a flying seagull, blending modern engineering with visual references to local maritime character.

The bridge opened in October 2019 as part of Haiphong's infrastructure development plan to link the city center with the northwestern suburbs. This expansion improved traffic connections and supported the city's growth into new residential areas.

The bridge connects the city center with newer residential areas and has become part of daily commutes for thousands of people. Residents recognize its seagull-like shape as a reference to Haiphong's ties to the sea and waterfront heritage.

Pedestrian walkways with elevators on both sides make crossing convenient for walkers and cyclists of all abilities. Traffic is heaviest during morning and evening rush hours, so visiting at quieter times offers a better experience for those wanting to enjoy the crossing.

The structure features more than 6000 LED modules integrated into its cable-stayed design, creating dynamic light displays that shine across the waterfront after dark. This nighttime illumination transforms the bridge into a glowing landmark visible from distant parts of the city.
