Kapellenfriedhof

Kapellenfriedhof is a historic cemetery next to the Marienkapelle chapel in Bad Kissingen, featuring numerous old graves, memorial stones, and landscaped green areas. The grounds combine the function of a burial place with park-like features, organized into different sections with pathways and plantings.

The cemetery was founded in 1348 during a plague outbreak and later saw fighting during the Austro-Prussian War in 1866. These war events left lasting marks that remain visible today through monuments and gravestones.

A memorial with a Bavarian helmet and sword marks the graves of 151 soldiers who fell in the Battle of Kissingen. This monument stands as a striking reminder of the area's military past.
