Zu den heiligen Engeln, Modern Catholic church in Kirchrode-Bemerode-Wülferode, Germany.
Zu den heiligen Engeln is a modern Catholic church featuring a tent-like design created by architect Josef Bieling. The building is characterized by large windows that allow natural light to flow throughout the interior and create an open spatial arrangement.
The church was built in 1964 and consecrated by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen following the division of St. Antonius parish in Kleefeld. Starting with around 1,850 members, the new congregation established itself as an independent Catholic community in the district.
The interior displays a statue of Mary, Stations of the Cross, and stained glass windows showing the Burning Bush above the altar area. These devotional elements reflect Catholic worship practices that visitors notice when entering the space.
The church is located on Böhmerwaldstraße and holds regular services for the community. A room of silence remains accessible even when the main building is closed, providing visitors with a private space for reflection.
The church preserves one of the last altar canopies installed before the Second Vatican Council reforms changed liturgical design. This transitional feature illustrates the architectural shifts that the congregation experienced after the Council.
