Skywalk Allgäu, Elevated walkway in Scheidegg, Germany
Skywalk Allgäu is a treetop walkway in Scheidegg that winds through dense forest canopy at varying heights between 15 and 30 meters above the ground. The path stretches for about 540 meters and takes you through and above the vegetation.
The project was built starting in 2009 and opened to the public in October 2010 after one year of construction work. It was designed to offer visitors a new way to experience the forest.
The site teaches visitors about the mixed forests of the region through how the path is designed and what it reveals. You experience how the nature here looks and works as you walk through.
The walkway is suitable for families with children since the height increases gradually and there are sections with varying difficulty levels. Proper footwear is important because the surface can become slippery in wet conditions.
The structure uses Nordic larch wood and special connection systems that allow the walkway to sway with the wind. This flexible design makes walking a dynamic experience that feels different from a rigid structure.
