Niels Juel, Bronze statue at Holmens Kanal, Denmark.

The statue depicts Admiral Niels Juel standing aboard his ship Christianus Quintus, gripping a command rod while a mortar cannon sits nearby. The monument is cast in bronze and set upon a marble base with ornamental details.

Sculptor Theobald Stein created the monument in 1881 to commemorate the 200-year anniversary of the Battle of Køge Bay against Swedish forces. This 17th-century naval victory became a defining moment in Danish maritime history.

The marble base displays bronze ornaments showing military symbols and Niels Juel's coat of arms, reflecting Danish naval identity. These details connect the admiral to his nation's maritime power and legacy.

The statue is centrally located near the Church of Holmen and easily reached by various public transport connections. Visitors can view the monument from multiple angles with clear sightlines from the surrounding area.

The pavement surrounding the monument displays a distinctive red-and-white pattern made from Oeland sandstone and is enclosed by a cast-iron fence. This boundary frames the work and sets it apart as a protected landmark.
