Niebla Castle, Medieval castle in Niebla, Spain
The castle features a square layout with two large courtyards surrounded by quadrangular towers and a prominent keep in the northeastern corner.
Duke Enrique de Guzman, the second Duke of Medina Sidonia, demolished the existing fortress and constructed the current castle in the late 15th century.
The Spanish poet Luis de Gongora mentioned the castle in his work Fabula de Polifemo y Galatea, dedicated to the eleventh Count of Niebla.
The castle maintains regular visiting hours and hosts cultural events throughout the year, with guided tours available in multiple languages for visitors.
The construction combines different building materials, including ashlar masonry, stone blocks, and rammed earth techniques from various historical periods.
